This summer, we were fortunate to host Griffin from NYU, who joined A Curiae to research and develop policy around one big question: How can the reentry population access healthcare in the Bay Area?
It wasn’t a simple task. Healthcare access is layered with complexities our clients face every day. Griffin dug deep—reviewing bills, policies, and outreach materials—to create a resource our staff can use to educate stakeholders and strengthen case management.
I’ll admit, I was hesitant at first about bringing on an undergraduate intern. But Griffin quickly proved himself with a curiosity, intelligence, and dedication that exceeded expectations. His work has already sparked stronger conversations with court stakeholders and will continue shaping how we approach healthcare interventions.

With his research, Griffin has helped us improve how we speak to court stakeholders, address issues with our clients, and identify and expand on grant opportunities related to public health access. Thank you for your hard work and effort, Griffin!
